Scott Baxter Wins Avon Angling Club Junior Competition
This Avon Angling Clubís junior competition took place on Saturday 26th May. A total of 13 juniors entered the competition which was held above Craig Bridge Strathaven. The fishing started off good in the morning with a few of the Anglers having a fish on the bank within the first hour. It was looking like the 4 fish bag limit would be reached fairly quickly during the morning however after lunchtime the scorching weather and bright sunshine took its toll on the fishing and the junior Anglers. The last hour in these competitions usually proves most decisive as youngsters desperately try to tempt that last fish out which could be the difference between first and second however despite their efforts no more fish were landed. A total of 9 fish were weighed in at the end. Scott Baxter (Stonehouse) picked up the 1st Place trophy and the fantastic prize of a spinning rod complete with reel and line. Second place went to Scott McDonald (Strathaven) who narrowly lost it with only a few ounces. Third place went to Nathan Patterson (Hamilton) who was the only angler to land 2 trout however itís the weight that counts on the day. As a thank you from the club, all the anglers who took part were given a small gift. Massive thanks goes to everyone who organised the Competition and also to Hooked in Scotland, Shettleston road, Glasgow for the prizes.
